About

The Underground is a cultural project built on a simple belief: great art shouldn’t be reserved for the few who can afford it, or who have the right walls to hang it on.

Founded by a couple, Diene from Mallorca and Soren from Alaska, The Underground exists for anyone, anywhere, who wants to live with art rather than just look at it.

Every few months, we work closely with a different artist. Together we select the pieces they care about most and translate them into new forms: prints, fabric, wood, and whatever else the work asks for. Original paintings are extraordinary, but they’re also expensive, fragile, and rooted to one place. Our editions are made to be lived with: to move when you move, to fit a small flat or a suitcase, to be worn as easily as displayed. Art that comes with you, rather than art for when you settle down.

Just as important to us is the person behind the work. Through our platform, each artist gets the space and time to be known, not only through what they make, but through who they are, how they think, and where their work comes from. We want you to meet the artist, not just the piece.

And whenever we can, we take it offline. Wherever an artist feels their work belongs, we gather people in the same room: openings, dinners, screenings, and one-off nights around the world.

Our first editions are produced in collaboration with local screen printers in Mallorca, independent creatives whose craft we’re proud to put alongside the artists we work with.
